In our pregnancy yoga classes we consider this a very special time in a woman’s life.
The physical and mental states of a pregnant woman go through extensive changes during her pregnancy time. She experiences shifts in body image due to her hormonal changes. A yoga practice, during this phase of a woman’s life, adjusted to her specific needs, helps the future mother to maintain health and stability in mind and body during her pregnancy and prepares her for delivery. At the same time the mother yoga practice provides a fertile soil for the physical, mental and spiritual growth of the newborn.
Although it is recommended for women to begin asanas and pranayama practice before conception, a regular practice during pregnancy, and after delivery will provide sustained benefits. Women can start a mild yoga practice three months after delivery.
